Why is it necessary to register GST?
A Goods Tax is applicable on sale and purchase throughout the country. Due to this, you will not have to pay various types of indirect taxes. Online registration under GST is mandatory for merchants and taxpayers whose proper business is 20 lakh or more in a financial year.
Relief has been given to small traders under GST, hence GST will not be levied on the goods and services supplied by those businesses whose annual sales are less than Rs 20 lakh. In North Eastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand etc. this exemption limit is Rs. 10 lakhs.
GST Registration Time Limit
According to GST law, registration in GST should be done within 30 days from that day.
Registration is required within 30 days from the day on which a business is liable for registration in GST, that is, whenever a business crosses the limit of 20 lakh rupees (10 lakh rupees in North East States).
Then whenever a business is covered in other circumstances of GST registration requirement like inter-state supply or selling goods through E-Commerce Operator, registration has to be taken within 30 days from that day.
How much Penalty will be incurred if GST registration is not done
If any person or business who is responsible for taking registration in GST but does not take registration or takes late registration, then under GST law on it, a penalty of Rs.10000 may be imposed. If he instigates or increases this Non-Compliance, then it will be that the Penalty can be up to Rs.25000.

- Bank statement related to business.

- If the property is for rent then the NOC or rent contract will have to be uploaded.
- A passport size photo will also have to be uploaded.

Any person can register GST online without any charge by visiting the GST portal www.gst.gov.in.
Businesses of large size have to employ the services of a GST Practitioner, CA or GST Expert.
GST Registration Guide
In which you have to fill your information, by selecting the option of New Registration.
After that fill the image text and click on Proceed.
In your information, email id and Mobile no. Write, on that you will get different OTPs . Which you have to fill correctly on the next page .
After that , click on the option of Proceed.
As soon as you click on Proceed, you will get a Temporarily Reference Number (TRN), save it.
Until your registration is complete, these TNRs will be useful for you.
If you want to login back in , you will be able to do this with the help of TRN.
After saving TRN , you will reach the next page as soon as you click on Proceed.
You can also access this page by going to the home page and clicking on “Register Now” in the Taxpayer.
You will have the option of New Registration and Temporarily Reference Number (TRN).
Now you have to select the Temporarily Reference Number (TRN).
GST Registration Process
Now fill the TRN below it and fill the image text and click on Proceed option.
After which an OTP would be sent to your mobile number. The same OTP will be sent to the email ID you register with.
On the next page, fill out the column of Mobile / Email OTP and click on Proceed.
After this, you will have a draft of your Saved Application.
Go ahead by clicking Save & Continue.
After which you will be given an Acknowledgment Number within 15 days. With which you can check the status of your GST registration.
Step by step Guide for GST Registration
- Open GST site
- Click on Registration Now option Under Services
- Select I’m as Taxpayer
- Select your State and District
- Enter your Legal Name of the Business
- Enter Pan Card Number
- Enter your Email Address
- Enter a Valid Mobile Number
- Click on proceed button
- Enter OTP receive on Registered mobile no and Email Id.
- Click on continue button
- You receive Temporary Reference Number (TRN).
- Next Click on Proceed button.
- Enter your TRN Number
- Click Proceed Button
- Enter Mobile OTP
- click on proceed Button
- Click on edit option Under Action
- Enter your all Details and Information
- After Enter all your Details click on submit with DSC Option
- Select your Certificate Name
- Click submit with DSC.
- Your Registration Complete. You receive Mail after GSTIN No. allotted.
How to Check GST Registration Status
Open the site https://services.gst.gov.in/services/arnstatus
Now type your Application Reference Number and Captcha.
Then click on the search button.
Now GST Registration Status Display will be in front of you.
